Weekend festivities and the Chubb Trail

In Eureka, Missouri.

Yesterday I spent the day in Poplar Bluff, Missouri for a family reunion. I went with my parents, my almost-3-year-old niece and Cash. What a BEAUTIFUL weekend.

My sweet girl T!This isn’t even EVERYONE on my mom’s father’s side. Thanks to my cousin for the cool drone photo!2 tuckered out pals.

B had golf plans originally made so I let him off the hook for this reunion! His golf partner ended up having to work so M and Hilde invited B and Bane for a hike. They explored Chubb yesterday and B liked it enough to take me back today!
Yesterday’s double dog adventure.

This is Dottie, our dashboard hula girl. She usually gets her photo snapped at the beginning of most road trips. You’ll surely see her more!

Today we woke up and ran some errands, then hit the road with every intention of repeating the Lewis & Clark trail. About halfway there B asked if I wanted to go somewhere new instead. I’m always down for somewhere new!

So, this is a snapshot of a page out of my favorite book at the moment, 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles of St. Louis. I’ve been studying this book like crazy, obsessing over where to go next! Actually, this book comes in other cities. When I searched and added the link to Amazon, lots of “60 Hikes Within 60 Miles” large cities popped up. See if they have one near your neck of the woods! I picked this book up at REI a couple weeks ago.

Chubb is shared with equestrians and bikes. We trudged through a lot of horse poop and mud today. Bane even sampled it…gross boy dog. Enjoy some trail photos!

Bane enjoying a cool drink of creek water.Horse booty. This incredible clearing nearly took my breath away! After 3.5 miles of tree cover we walked the 0.50 miles to the halfway point of this out and back trail. Water and treat break.Meramec River. When B told me the trail was muddy yesterday I brushed him off because he likes to exaggerate a little. Yeah, no. This was straight up MUCK! It was so thick, deep and slippery. It had the consistency of melted chocolate.Love the exposed roots.Bane pooped out at home after two days of 8 mile hikes in a row!

That was our weekend. I hate how fast Monday comes but, it’s a 3 and a half day work week for me! Family photos Thursday night and then the long awaited hopefully dry Memorial Day camping trip.

Tonight or tomorrow I plan to post my last 2 Cairn boxes! I still haven’t yet.

Thanks for following!
