I slept better than I have in a long time last night. We woke up around 6:45 and slowly got our things together and got on the road by 8:15. It is very overcast and windy today…70 degrees this AM. My kinda weather!
We made it in to Colorado and not long after crossing the state line, we got pulled over. Oh boy. I knew it was happening before it even happened. We were driving a little over the speed limit in a work zone – which is a huge, bad no good thing to do because those fines are insane.
The officer was very sure to let us know that the tickets can be upwards of $350, depending on other elements. I don’t know if he just didn’t feel like writing a ticket, if he looked us up and saw we were boring people with no past violations or what…but he let us off with a warning after we waited in the car for 10 minutes, dreading the ticket we thought inevitable.
When he let us leave, we rolled up the windows, drove away and sighed and laughed in disbelief. Today is our lucky day. Whew!
It is our first time in Colorado, and we have been dying to see the Rockies for a few years. We’re staying in Estes Park and wow. We have a sweet view at our campsite!
I have a trail picked out in RMNP we’re going to hike tomorrow which I’m super excited for. I am hoping for a beautiful and relaxing day.Wilson, our trooper of a Forester. The Stanley Hotel from The Shining.
As you can see, today we ended up exploring a little. We drove around the park to scope out our trailhead, went out for dinner and now we will try to sleep somewhat early so we can get up around 6 to head to our starting point.
