I’ve been playing with this Featherstone tent for a little over a week. Setting up, taking down, packing it back up, even leaving it up overnight in the rain. (Spoiler alert: it stays bone dry.)
As a tent hoarder (ahem…I am only now down to 3 I actively use thank you very much…) I am always browsing Amazon, looking for new products to try for car camping, backpacking and for something roomy but practical enough for myself, my husband and at least one, if not both of our dogs. I must say this budget-friendly tent is a gem. This is a perfect addition for your car camping or backpacking needs. Now, it is not your typical “ultralight” backpacking tent, but meant to be a hybrid – weighing in fully at 6lbs with everything (tent body, rainfly, stakes, poles, footprint) – BUT you can easily adjust a few things to shave some weight off to make it work for a weekend in the backcountry if you must.
You could easily split the weight with a partner (exactly what Turkey and I do; he takes the tent and I pack the poles), or for a much lighter option you can set up with footprint, rainfly and poles only – which weighs in at 3.8lbs.
