I’ve been playing with this Featherstone tent for a little over a week. Setting up, taking down, packing it back up, even leaving it up overnight in the rain. (Spoiler alert: it stays bone dry.)
As a tent hoarder (ahem…I am only now down to 3 I actively use thank you very much…) I am always browsing Amazon, looking for new products to try for car camping, backpacking and for something roomy but practical enough for myself, my husband and at least one, if not both of our dogs. I must say this budget-friendly tent is a gem. This is a perfect addition for your car camping or backpacking needs. Now, it is not your typical “ultralight” backpacking tent, but meant to be a hybrid – weighing in fully at 6lbs with everything (tent body, rainfly, stakes, poles, footprint) – BUT you can easily adjust a few things to shave some weight off to make it work for a weekend in the backcountry if you must.
You could easily split the weight with a partner (exactly what Turkey and I do; he takes the tent and I pack the poles), or for a much lighter option you can set up with footprint, rainfly and poles only – which weighs in at 3.8lbs.
Some tent specs:
Seasons: 3-season
Sleeping Capacity: 2-person
Floor Dimensions: 84 x 51 inches
Peak Height: 43 inches
Rainfly: 75-denier Ripstop Polyester with 3000mm polyurethane hydrostatic rated coating
Floor: 210-denier Nylon with 3000mm polyurethane hydrostatic rated coating
Canopy: Noseeum Mesh
Pack Weight: (Tent Body, Rainfly, Poles, Stakes, Guylines, Footprint): 6 lbs
Trail Weight: (Tent Body, Rainfly, & Poles): 5 lbs
Ultralight Setup: (Rainfly, Footprint, & Poles): 3.8 lbs
The floor and body material this tent is made from is much sturdier than the very fragile tent I usually carry; making this a great option to take backpacking and camping with our dogs.
It comfortably fits 2 adults and would be even better if you’re solo – boasting lots of space for gear storage inside with you. It’s very airy and roomy!
Pros:
– The dual entry. Huge fan of the double doors
– The zippers are great; never catch screen
– Poles are bound by a central hub, making for quick and easy solo set up
– Price! A steal
Cons:
– I wish it came in other color combos! I own a couple grey/orange tents
– I’m not currently out in it
If you’re a camping/backpacking beginner, a tent enthusiast or just looking for an affordable quality tent to take weekending; I highly recommend the Featherstone UL Granite 2!

Super easy tbh. I did it by myself a few times in under 2-3 min. ⛺️ I had Brian help me when it was windy one of the days but that would be any tent setup!

I saw this tent on Amazon. Sometimes you get products that are made overseas look great but are crap. The ads try to make them look like they are made in the US. I saw an ad that said the technology came from Joe Hopkins University. On the Featherstone site they have a section called Why We Give a Dam. (No “n”) That was a red flag. So, I was glad to see your review. Thanks
